Ford Ecosport: Exterior Lighting / Removal and Installation - Headlamp Bulb

Removal

  WARNING: The bulb contains gas under pressure. The bulb may shatter if the glass envelope is scratched or if the bulb is dropped. Handle the bulb only by its base. Avoid touching the glass envelope. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

NOTE: The headlamp bulb should not be removed from the headlamp assembly until just before a new bulb is installed. Removing the bulb for an extended period of time may affect headlamp bulb performance. Contaminants may enter the headlamp assembly where they can settle on the lens and reflector. Never turn on the headlamps with the bulb removed from the headlamp assembly.

NOTE: Make sure the headlamp switch and ignition switch are in the OFF position.

Vehicles equipped with halogen headlamps

NOTE: Low beam.

NOTE: The headlamp assembly is shown removed for clarity.

NOTE: LH side shown, RH side similar.

1. Remove the low beam bulb cover.
   

1. Remove the low beam bulb socket, and remove the bulb.
   

NOTE: High beam.

NOTE: The headlamp assembly is shown removed for clarity.

NOTE: LH side shown, RH side similar.

1. Remove the high beam bulb cover.
   

1. 1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
      
   2. Press the wire retaining tab downward then inward to release.
      
   3. Remove the bulb.
      

Vehicles equipped with high intensity discharge headlamps

NOTE: Low beam.

NOTE: The headlamp assembly is shown removed for clarity.

NOTE: LH side shown, RH side similar.

1. Remove the low beam bulb cover.
   

1. 1. Rotate the headlamp bulb locking collar clockwise to release.
      
   2. Remove the headlamp bulb assembly.
      
   3. Disconnect the electrical connector.
      

NOTE: High beam.

NOTE: The headlamp assembly is shown removed for clarity.

NOTE: LH side shown, RH side similar.

1. Remove the high beam bulb cover.
   

1. 1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
      
   2. Press downward then upward to release the wire retainer.
      
   3. Remove the bulb.
      

Marker light

NOTE: If equipped.

NOTE: The headlamp assembly is shown removed for clarity.

NOTE: LH side shown, RH side similar.

1. Remove the low beam bulb cover.
   

1. Remove the bulb socket from the headlamp assembly, then remove the bulb from the socket.
   

Installation

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
