Overview
The cruise control system and Adjustable Speed Limiter (ASL) are controlled by the PCM .
The cruise control mode is selected from the steering wheel mounted switches (ON/OFF, SET+, SET- and CAN/RES), which are integrated into the LH steering wheel switch.
The cruise control system maintains a selected vehicle speed between 29 kmh (18 mph) and the maximum limited vehicle speed.
During normal driving, the vehicle speed can vary slightly from the set speed due to road conditions. The vehicle speed can fluctuate when driving up and down a steep hill. If the vehicle speed decreases more than 16 kmh (10 mph) below the set speed, the cruise control disengages.
The Adjustable Speed Limiter (ASL) feature operates exclusive of the cruise control. When the feature is activated, the vehicle does not travel beyond the selected speed under normal driving conditions. If the accelerator pedal is pressed hard, the Adjustable Speed Limiter (ASL) feature is over-ridden and the driver can accelerate to pass another vehicle. Once the accelerator pedal is released, the vehicle slows down and the Adjustable Speed Limiter (ASL) speed limit resumes.
The Adjustable Speed Limiter (ASL) is activated from the LH steering wheel mounted switch (LIM). Speed limit selections are made using the cruise control SET+ and SET- switches.
