Removal
NOTICE:
Suspension fasteners are critical parts that affect the
performance of vital components and systems. Failure of these fasteners
may result in major service expense. Use the same or equivalent parts if
replacement is necessary. Do not use a replacement part of lesser
quality or substitute design. Tighten fasteners as specified.
NOTE:
LH side shown, RH side similar.

Refer to: Health and Safety Precautions (100-00 General Information, Description and Operation).

Remove the wheel and tire.
Refer to: Wheel and Tire (204-04A Wheels and Tires, Removal and Installation).

Support the rear suspension.
Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack

Remove and discard rear shock absorber lower bolt and nut.
-
-
Remove the retainer.
-
Position aside the fender splash shield.
-
Remove and discard the upper bolts and remove the rear shock absorber.
Installation
-
-
Position the rear shock absorber and install the rear shock absorber upper bolts.
Torque:
22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

Position the fender splash shield.
-
Fix the retainer.
-
NOTE:
Only tighten the nuts finger tight at this stage.
Iinstall the new rear shock absorber lower bolt and nut.

Use the General Equipment: Vehicle/Axle Stands
-
Tighten the rear shock absorber lower bolt and nut.
Use the General Equipment: Vehicle/Axle Stands
Torque:
85 lb.ft (115 Nm)
-
Install the wheel and tire.
Refer to: Wheel and Tire (204-04A Wheels and Tires, Removal and Installation).

Rear driveshaft
AWD relay module
Rear axle with coupling device
Torque
from the engine is transferred through the transmission to the Power
Transfer Unit (PTU)...
Removal
Remove the interior rear view mirror.
Refer to: Interior Rear View Mirror (501-09 Rear View Mirrors, Removal and Installation).
Remove the IPMA camera heated windshield element.
Installation
NOTE:
Use an alcohol pad to remove the residual adhesive...
