Ford Ecosport: Accessory Drive - 2.0L Duratec-HE (129kW/175PS) / Removal and Installation - Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor Belt

Removal

  WARNING: Serious injury may occur if the engine is accidently started by another person during service work. Remove the key from the vehicle to prevent unauthorized starts. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
   Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).
   

1. Remove the retainers and the underbody shield.
   Torque:
      1:   13 lb.in (1.5 Nm)
      2:   22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

1. Remove the RH (right-hand) side front wheel.
   Refer to: Wheel and Tire (204-04A Wheels and Tires, Removal and Installation).
   

1. Remove the retainers and position aside the splash shield.
   

1. Remove the bolts and the A/C compressor belt cover.
   Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

1. 1. By turning the crankshaft pulley bolt clockwise, feed the stretchy belt tool on to the crankshaft pulley approximately 90 degrees.
      Install Special Service Tool: 303-1419  Remover, 3.5L / 3.7L Stretchy Belt.
   2. Fold the stretchy belt tool under the inside of the A/C compressor belt as shown.
      
   3. In one quick motion, firmly pull the stretchy belt remover out of the RH fender well, removing the A/C compressor belt.
      

Installation

1. Position the A/C compressor belt onto the A/C compressor pulley and around the special tool on the crankshaft pulley. Make sure that the belt is engaged with the crankshaft pulley and rotate the crankshaft clockwise to install the A/C compressor belt.
   Use Special Service Tool: 303-1252  Stretchy Belt Remover/ Installer Tool.

1. Make sure the A/C compressor belt is correctly seated on the crankshaft and the A/C compressor pulleys.
   

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
